SEN. MARK KIRK: Let me just ask one question. I want to show you a picture of Ibrahim al Qosi who was recently released by the administration to the Sudanese and he appeared on some al-Qaeda videos recruiting people for [al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula]. Now that he’s out, I would hope we would end the policy of issuing terrorists to terrorist nations, and where they can get out.
JOHN KERRY: Well, senator, he’s not supposed to be doing that. And there are consequences for that, and there will be.
KIRK: So as they said in Team America: World Police, you’re going to send them a very angry letter?
KERRY: Uh, no we do more than that.
HANS BLIX: Let me see your whole palace, or else.
KIM JONG II: Or else what?
BLIX: Or else we will be very, very angry with you. And we will write you a letter telling you how angry we are.
Just one day before, President Obama criticized the role Guantanamo Bay plays in national security and touted the rigorous steps to safety close it.
OBAMA: For many years it’s been clear that the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay does not advance our national security. It undermines it. It’s counterproductive to our fight against terrorists because they use it as propaganda in their efforts to recruit. Since I took office, we’ve so far transferred 147 more. Each under new significant restrictions to keep them from returning to the battlefield.
Significant restrictions, huh? What does Obama have to say about that terrorist and the many more who have returned to battle?
